"Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one."

Sacred Pathways
In 2001 I and two friends co-founded The One Day of Peace Coalition in Portland, Oregon based on U.S. Congressional House Resolution 138: "One Day of Peace is an annual day of nonviolence and sharing that was conceived by children, confirmed by Congress and has been commended by heads of state around the world. Supported by 100 nations, 1000 organizations in 135 countries, 25 USA Governors, hundreds of mayors and the UN General Assembly.
Our vision here in Portland and SW Washington is to implement Congressional Resolution 138 in such a way that the "doing of it" provides the "something positive to do", hope for our citizens, and inspires even greater outpourings of generosity and caring, not only in our metropolitan area, but across the nation and around the world. One Planet, One People, One Peace, One Day at a Time.
Before we dissolved due to a lack of funds we put on two annual celebrations. The following Prayer for Peace is the one we used to close both of those Celebrations.

Prayer of Peace
Let us offer this prayer of peace to the divinity within that makes us all brothers and sisters to make us truly One Family in the name of humanity. Let us be filled with the realization of the golden cord that connects us to each other, as we are all connected to one another, for there is no separateness.
Let us offer this prayer of peace to the cosmic Oneness that is our birthright and our privilege and our strength that guides us on the road of peace, the human peace that has a place in the hearts of all people that allows us to truly fulfill our divine potential to become the children of one humanity.
Let us offer this prayer of peace in gratitude for the realization of the truth of our existence, for allowing us all to discover the sanctity of our lives. For allowing us all to seek the spirituality of our beings. In gratitude for allowing us to experience with all our hearts and our souls the intimate connection to the divine that we all possess inside. For our bodies are the temples of worship and our souls the altars upon which we stand tall and live out the true meaning of our existence.
Now is the time of spiritual enlightenment for us all. The time for the enlightened few is over. The age of elitist enlightenment has passed. For how long did we wait for prophets to come down from mountaintops and tell us what to do?
Now is the time to find the answers from within our own well of spiritual wisdom, to realize our Oneness with All That Is. NOW is the time to acknowledge that we are citizens of the earth, not of any religion, nation, or race, but of this earth, for this earth, and by this earth who create a lasting peace on earth.
Let us invoke the mountains and rivers and this great Earth, and acknowledge our intimacy and interdependence with all things sentient and insentient. Let us reflect that the gift of life is more fragile than the dewdrops on the tips of the morning grasses.
Then let us vow. Let us vow to heal and nourish. Let us vow to love and share. Let us vow to alleviate suffering and bondage. Let us vow to manifest Peace and Joy with wisdom and compassion. Let us vow to teach our children to love, to respect, and to be kind to each other so that they may grow with peace in mind.
Let us give thanks for a world at peace and the awareness of Universal love in every sunset, every flower's unfolding petals, every baby's smile, every lover's kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing, miraculous beat of our heart. And so it is.
